Becoming Marianne. Ni Putes Ni Soumises (NPNS -- Neither Whores Nor Submissives) is organizing a rally in defense of women’s rights, at the Place de la République, in Paris, France, on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 12 pm. NPNS is an international human rights organization that advocates on behalf of women’s rights as universal human rights without compromise. Thousands of activists are expected to join in the protest to support the French Republic’s values of secularism, gender desegregation and gender equality. All of the participants will be dressed as Marianne in her distinctive, red Phrygian liberty cap. Marianne is the French national icon, which symbolizes the foundational values of the French Republic. The rally is open to the public. Embrace Your Inner Marianne!

For My Baby Brother, Jacob Braasch
I was working on this piece when I found out that Jacob had killed himself.
I finished it for him.
From now on, everything I write will be in honor of Jacob.
My legacy will be his legacy too.
I love you, Jacob.

Me and My Baby Bro
RIP Jacob Michael Braasch (01/28/86 - 02/02/10)
There are no words to describe how my heart aches.
There are no words to describe how I love you.
The rest of my life will be lived in honor of yours.

RIP Jacob Michael Braasch (01/28/86 - 02/02/10)
My heart was irreparably and irrevocably broken on a Tuesday.
To my beloved baby brother, Jacob:
It's ok now, kid. It's over. I'll take it from here.
I will live my life and make an impact and leave a legacy for both of us.
I promise.
And, I love you.

Ni Putes Ni Soumises Organizes a Protest for Rayhana
Ni Putes Ni Soumises is the amazing women's rights organization in Paris, France where I am working as a Human Rights Fellow for a year.
They organized a protest to support Rayhana, the French-Algerian playwright who was attacked recently in front of the theater where she was performing her play, which speaks out against obscurantism and the religious oppression of women in Algeria. The perpetrators attempted to set her on fire.
This is the link to the piece at Daylight Atheism plus some pics of the protest.

Blood Transfusion Foe Defies Party on Health Care Bill
This is a parody of the recent NY Times interview with Rep Bart Stupak of Michigan.
I replaced Bart with a JW Rep introducing an anti-blood transfusion amendment to the health care bill.
Sometimes it helps people to see the real issue when it isn't a mainstream Xtian doctrinal element being imposed upon the American citizenry in direct contravention of the Establishment Clause of our Constitution.
Enjoy.

Just So You Know
Those thoughts you think while you read newspaper articles about witch doctors in Africa who sacrifice children to the tree spirits -- that's what I'm thinking when you tell me about your conversations with Jesus and the favors he bestows upon you.

Hell on Earth
Here's a little piece I wrote for the July 2009 issue of the Willamette Freethinker -- the monthly newsletter of the Corvallis Secular Society.
I like this one. It's called Hell on Earth.
I hope you enjoy it.

Christian Missionaries Are Destroying the World
Here's my latest piece at Daylight Atheism: Christian Missionaries Are Doing God's Work
I hope you enjoy it.
I know, I know -- I have to start giving my blog a little more TLC.
I might just do a series of posts with links to all of my existing work on line.
I have been writing a great deal -- just not for my neglected blog.
More to follow soon -- I promise.
