International Women's Day Rally at the WI State Capitol on March 8th

A loud and loving crowd marched down State Street to a rally in front of the Wisconsin State Capitol building to advocate for women's rights as universal human rights without compromise.

The GOP war on women, as exemplified by WI Governor Scott Walker's war on contraception and women's sexual and reproductive healthcare and rights, in his "emergency budget repair" bill, is part and parcel with their war on workers' rights and unions, both public and private sector, and the middle class and democracy.  Walker exempted the male majority public employee unions from his union busting tactics, while targeting the female majority public employee unions.  But, the firefighters are with us.  And, they came on the 8th, last night, to stand up for women's rights.  And, to play bagpipes!!

We stood together to say NO!  We stood together to say that we will not accept anything less than the full recognition of the humanity and citizenship and personhood of women!

We refuse slavery!  We refuse second class citizenship status!  We refuse sub-human status!

We demand our rights!  We demand our humanity!
